Cogneros

Private AI built from everything your firm knows.

Decades of documents, work product, research, and correspondence become secure institutional intelligence — retrievable in seconds, cited to its source, and available only to the people your firm authorizes.

  • Firm-controlled knowledge
  • Permission-aware access
  • Local AI inference
How work moves through Cogneros: firm documents are structured into Cogneros Knowledge, retrieved by Cogneros Search, reasoned over privately by a Cogneros Node, reviewed by the attorney, and turned into new work product by Cogneros Draft.

Your firm already owns the intelligence.

Decades of judgment are recorded in work the firm has already been paid to produce. It is not missing. It is simply unreachable at the moment someone needs it.

The problem is not a lack of information. The problem is making accumulated experience instantly usable without sacrificing control, confidentiality, or permissions.

Five moves, each one dependent on someone's memory.

With Cogneros

  1. Ask
  2. Retrieve
  3. Verify
  4. Draft

Four moves, each one traceable to a source.

One private platform. Five connected systems.

Each system is useful on its own. Together they form a single loop: the firm's work becomes findable, what is found becomes the basis for new work, and every step of it stays inside a boundary the firm governs.

Cogneros Control

Govern the firm's private AI environment.
  1. Cogneros Knowledge

The firm's accumulated experience, made usable.

Indexes approved institutional knowledge and preserves the structure, context, metadata, and permissions that make it worth keeping.

    Holds the corpus

  2. Cogneros Search

Ask the firm, not the folder structure.

Finds relevant firm work through natural-language, semantic, lexical, metadata, and matter-aware retrieval — with every answer traced to its source.

    Finds the precedent

  3. Cogneros Draft

Draft from what your firm already knows.

Creates new work from relevant precedent, firm templates, matter context, and verified sources — with the person responsible in the loop throughout.

    Produces the work

Cogneros Node

Private intelligence can live inside your firm.

A managed local AI appliance deployed inside the firm's environment for private model inference and secure processing.

One platform, shaped to the work.

The platform does not change between firms. What changes is the vocabulary, the document types, and the questions people already ask each other in the hallway.

Whatever your firm calls the unit that scopes access — a matter, an engagement, a project — Cogneros treats it as the boundary that governs who can retrieve what.

  1. Legal

    • Contracts and clause libraries
    • Research memoranda
    • Engagement letters
  2. Accounting

    In design

Prior-year workpapers, technical positions, and the reasoning behind treatments the firm has already defended.

How did we treat this last time, and why?

    Engagements contain

    • Workpapers and schedules
    • Technical memoranda
    • Client correspondence
    • Engagement documentation
  3. Consulting

    In design

Proposals, methodologies, and deliverables from past engagements, reusable without re-solving the same problem.

What did we propose for a client like this?

    Engagements contain

    • Proposals and statements of work
    • Frameworks and methodologies
    • Client deliverables

Cogneros Legal is the vertical in production today. The others are in design — described here so firms can see where the platform is going, not sold as something you can buy this quarter.

See Cogneros Legal

Retrieve first. Then draft.

Someone asks a question in the firm's own terms. Cogneros returns what the firm has actually produced — the matter, the page, the language it used. Only then does drafting begin, grounded in those sources, each one traceable.

Shown here in Cogneros Legal, the vertical in production today. The same two stages run over an accounting firm’s workpapers or a consultancy’s past engagements; only the vocabulary changes.

Demonstration content — fictional matters

Demonstration interface. Matters, clients, attorneys, documents, and excerpts shown here are fictional and do not describe real cases or client work.

Your firm's accumulated experience becomes an asset.

A closed matter is not finished work. It is a record of how the firm thought about a problem, what it concluded, which language survived scrutiny, and who did it.

Cogneros Knowledge takes approved firm content and keeps the context that makes it worth returning to — the matter it belongs to, who wrote it, when, under which jurisdiction, which version was final, and who is allowed to see it.

The permissions that governed the original document travel with it. Nothing becomes more visible inside Cogneros than it was in the repository it came from.

Private intelligence can live inside your firm.

Cogneros Node is a managed local AI appliance deployed inside the firm's environment. It gives the firm somewhere to run sensitive work that is neither a laptop nor someone else's data centre.

Sensitive work does not need to become someone else’s training data.

Cogneros supplies, deploys, and manages the appliance as a product. The firm does not select hardware, install models, or maintain the machine — and Cogneros does not manufacture the computer inside it.

Nobody needs another place to save files.

Google Workspace can remain the firm\u2019s canonical repository. People keep drafting, saving, and sharing exactly as they do now.

When approved content changes, Cogneros picks it up on its own. No one re-uploads a document, tags it, or files it a second time so that the AI can see it.

Other approved repositories can be connected the same way. The point is not the vendor — it is that the firm’s existing filing habits stay intact.

Nobody did anything except save the file.

Privacy is architecture, not a checkbox.

Confidentiality obligations do not get satisfied by a setting. They get satisfied by where information lives, who can reach it, and whether the firm can demonstrate both afterwards.

Firm-controlled source documents
Originals stay in the repository the firm already governs.
Permission-aware retrieval
Results are constrained by the existing entitlements of the person asking.
Matter-level access
Access is scoped to matters and engagements, not granted wholesale across the corpus.
Encrypted communication
Traffic between firm systems, Nodes, and Cogneros services is encrypted in transit.
Local inference options
Configured work can be reasoned over on a Cogneros Node inside the firm.
Auditability
Access, ingestion, model changes, and administrative actions are recorded.
Source-linked outputs
Answers and drafts carry the documents and pages they were built from.
No cross-firm knowledge sharing
One firm's corpus is never pooled with, or used to answer for, another firm.
Controlled model access
Which models may be used, by whom, and for which matters is a firm setting.
Automated monitoring
The environment reports its own condition rather than relying on periodic review.
Configurable retention
How long derived artifacts persist is set by the firm, not assumed by us.
Device-level controls
Nodes and endpoints are managed as identified devices within the environment.

What Cogneros does not claim

  • That any system is unhackable or perfectly secure
  • That using Cogneros guarantees privilege or confidentiality in any matter
  • SOC 2, HIPAA, or any certification Cogneros does not currently hold

Security posture, certifications, and data-handling terms are documented in writing during evaluation, so counsel can review the specifics rather than a marketing summary.

Not every question needs to leave the firm.

Cogneros is model-flexible by design. Some work belongs on a Node inside the building; some work is perfectly appropriate for an approved external model. That judgment is the firm's to make.

The firm controls the policy.

Questions firms ask first.

These come up in nearly every evaluation. Where something is still being built, it says so.

Does Cogneros train public AI models on our documents?

The core architecture is built around firm-controlled knowledge and private processing. Your corpus is indexed for your firm alone and is not pooled with other firms. If your firm approves an external model provider for part of a workflow, how that provider handles data is governed by your approved configuration and that provider's terms — which is why model access is a policy you set in Cogneros Control, not a default we set for you.

Where are our original documents stored?

Your approved repository stays the canonical source. Cogneros does not ask anyone to move or re-file anything. We create the structured intelligence layer required to make approved information retrievable, and every result points back to the document where it lives today.

Does every person need a Cogneros Node?

No. Node count depends on firm size, workload, privacy requirements, and deployment model. Many firms run a small number of shared Nodes; others deploy per office or per practice group. We size this during the knowledge assessment rather than selling a seat count.

Can Cogneros use Claude or other cloud AI models?

Yes, if your firm approves them. Cogneros is model-flexible and can route work to local models, approved cloud models, or a combination. Which models are available — and to whom, for which matters — is configured in Cogneros Control.

Can we restrict specific matters to local processing?

Policy-based processing restrictions are a core part of the product design: the intent is that a matter, a client, or a role can be scoped to local inference only. Configuration depth continues to expand, so we will walk through exactly what is available for your requirements during the assessment rather than describing it in the abstract here.

Does Cogneros replace our document management system?

No. Cogneros is an intelligence layer over approved firm repositories. Everyone keeps the document workflow they already have; Cogneros makes what is already in it findable and usable.

Can answers be traced to original documents?

Yes — this is a core product principle. Search results and generated drafts preserve source references, including document, matter, and page, so anyone can verify a statement against the underlying work product before relying on it.

Does Cogneros replace professional review?

No. Cogneros helps people find, synthesize, and draft from firm knowledge. Professional judgment and review remain with the person who signs the work, and the workflow is built to require verification rather than to bypass it.

Your firm has already built the knowledge.

Cogneros makes it available to the people who need it — under the firm’s own permissions, traced to the firm’s own documents.

Demonstrations are run against Cogneros’ own sample corpus. No firm documents are required to see the product work.

We use this only to arrange your demonstration. No documents are shared at this stage.
